I woke up around 9 weeks ago with a deep ache in my shoulder that hasn't went away it travels down my arm into my thumb and fore finger my Gp thinks I have nothing to worry about and that its most likely a nerve root compression coming from my neck. I'm limted inn what pain relief I can take as I'm also 12 weeks pregnant . Ive also had a lot of upper back pain although that comes and goes .I cannot have a chest x ray due to my pregnancy and physio or chiropractor treatments haven't helped .last week I coughed up phelem with blood with alittle blood in it my Gp thinks its most likely coming from my nose. I'm worried somethings not right and scared it won't be picked up for lack of tests etc . I have a 18- 20 year pack history but not longer smoke . Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi , I'm Laura I'm 35 ...I'm hoping for some advice I hope my question does not offend anyone as that's not intended.
Sorry for my rubbish post. I sent it from my mobile as my laptop is not working at the moment. Hope it kinda makes sence .
Hi
Easy to say don't panic, but not so easy not to!! I don't think you SHOULD panic and never having been pregnant, don't know if such symptoms can occur because of pregnancy. I think your best bet just now is keep on at your doctor to make sure he/she is well aware of your concerns, also speak with whoever is overseeing your pregnancy.
Hopefully someone else on this site can give you more clear advice.
Best wishes, Bill
Hi, as Bill as said it is easy to say don't panic but not so easy to do! However I agree you Should NOT panic. I have had 3 pregnancies and with any of them I didn't have anything like you are experiencing. But I do however now suffer from osteoarthritis all over my body. I have also in my neck a hernia and this traps a nerve and sends pain down my arm and numbness in my fingers, not sure if you could have something like this! But I would keep on to your GP and the people who are looking after you during your pregnancy.
Hope you find out something soon especially for your piece of mind. As you should be relaxed and enjoying your pregnancy.
Please keep us informed of how you get on.
Best wishes

Hi , Thank you both for your replies .I know the worst thing I can do is panic but I came helo it I think maybe its natural when you have pain that can't be controlled .My how selfish do I sound ? When you brave people are fighting real battles I on the other hand am unsure what is wrong yet. My Gp doesn't seem to be taking my concerns serious and brushes me off while I know he's educated guess is more than likely right I can't seem to relax with it been just that a guess. I'm going back to the Gp tomorrow to ask for a Mri as on reading about them I think they ar
e safe in pregnancy. Thank you both once again I wish you both the very best for the future.

Can't help it * oh I miss my laptop lol sorry once again for the rubbish post .
Hello Lauran,
I totally don't want you to panic but completely understand your concerns and worries. We all know our own bodies and sometimes get a sixth sense if something is wrong, be it something major or very trivial. If anything be happening in your body untoward then early diagnosis is so very important, so my advice would be to insist something to done to ease your peace of mind.
Being pregnant is a wonderful experience, you should be able to enjoy every moment of it and if this is troubling you then find somebody who is going to take your concerns seriously.
I hope you get the response and news you want. Please keep us all posted on your developments. Wishing you well xxx

Hi,there, I think don't panic is good advice - there may be lots of other explanations for the pain, but easier said than done. Once you have lost someone to cancer it is easy to imagine the worst at every slight thing, but often there is another explanation.
Have you seen an Osteopath? I was experiencing terrible pain in my neck and shoulder and after treatment by the Osteopath the pain has completely gone. An Osteopath will do a very thorough check and if anything is untoward they will advise you to go and see GP, suggest MRI etc. The treatment was gentle manipulation and massage (quite nice when you are pregnant! I have three daughters).
I took my daughter to the Osteopath yesterday because she had terrible shooting pains in her stomach, back and back of her legs. He did a thorough check up and said she had an inflammed disc, but I know if he had thought it was anything sinister he would have referred her on, as I know of other patients he has done this for.
Do you have more than one GP at your surgery? ask to see a different one if you feel the Doctor was dismissive.
Good luck.
Hi willowtree.. yes I have seen a osteopath it was right at the start of the pain it didn't help a great deal and without sounding awful I wasn't keen on him and didn't feel comfortable ....maybe I should look for another osetopath I'm sure its Like everything some are better than others. Thanks for your kind advice.
I've decided what ever happens I'm going to donate and support LC research this has opened my eyes to this evil disease.
I regret my smoking habit so much but I cannot change the past only learn from it! I grew up I'm a family were it was the "norm" to smoke everybody did it.
Take Care

Hi Laura, everyone on this site gives you sound advice and all I want to add is to keep asking your GP for whatever is going to put your mind at rest and cure your pains, even if you need a second opinion. I went to my doctor because I was having occasional night sweats and also occasionally chills after golf. Nothing really serious I thought but after various x-rays and scans I was diagnosed with lung cancer, but I think this is a bit unusual and that most cases would have more common symptoms so try and not get too wound up about things as your pregnancy should be a time of joy.
Good Luck
Rabbie
