hi everyone, thank you all for the support you have given me in the past. I now have a date for my operation to remove all the right lung. Yep! christmas eve. At least they can operate, as before they weren`t sure if the tumour was too near the main artery. So if anyone has any tips on what I should expect after the surgery they will be greatly appreciated. take care everyone and god bless. :)

Hi Jillygirl.

There must be easier ways to spend Christmas, but if the op gets rid of the tumour, it will be the best way ever to lose weight. :O

I'm sure the relief of it will help you to enjoy Christmas more, and hope they don't keep you in hospital too long.

You're in our prayers!

Love bill x

That's good Jilly. Now you'll be good and ready to celebrate Christmas. :)

Good luck Jilly and keep us posted on your progress. My husband had his right lung removed almost 2 years ago . It sounds drastic but I was amazed at his recovery and how the body can indeed cope with one lung ! He was home 7 days later . Think of little things to keep you comfortable when you get home, I bought one of those V shaped pillows to help him when sitting up . Plus eat and drink little and often keep your strength up ,think of things that you want to eat you may not feel like big meals . I will post anything else I can think of . I know this time of year is never good for ops and being in hospital but with things like this you just have to do it . My husband also had his kidney out last year on December 12th . I found I wasn't bothered about the whole Christmas thing all that mattered was that he was well . There will be other Christmases !! Best of luck and take care . X

Hi Jilly I have nursed many postoperative patients and the best advice I can give is give yourself time your body will tell you clearly what it can do, listen to it.

Best of luck x

Thank you Jaynerebecca, Like you say your body has a way of telling you what you need and dont need. I intend to stay positive through this and hopefully help others when I am back on my feet , I know its a tough journey but others have done it and so will I. Its lovely having support from everyone on here.

Thanks again. xx :)

Hi Jilligirl,

Best wishes for your surgery on Christmas Eve. In Jan 2009 ,I was prepared for surgery to remove my right lung, however when I awoke from the surgery,my surgeon told me the op was a complete success,he also informed me that he found it un-necessary to remove my entire lung that he had removed just less than half.Despite all my worries that this surgery would be unbearably painful and leave me a breathless invalid, confined to a wheelchair (I may be a Scot but not of the braveheart variety),my worries turned out to be entirely unfounded,OK,my wound site was a bit uncomfortable a few days post op,painful would have been an exaggeration.I have made a full recovery, enjoying my life to the full as it was prior to my dx,I may not be able to climb Mount Everest though but on the other hand,I dont think i could have done that prior to my op LOL.Wishing you a super Christmas and a great 2013.

I have just nursed my dad for 2 years with lung cancer, sadly he died 7 weeks ago aged 80. This has nothing to do with your op (just me rambling) but i wish you all the luck in the world, we always said to my dad that it was his outlook of life that kept him so well, his was always only palative care so he did really well. I will say a prayer for you , keep positive and laugh lots, My dad was always laughing . Be thinking of you on monday, Take care xxxxxx
