It's a little over 12 months since I completed 20 fractions of radical radiotherapy and I'm now being regularly monitored. My last scan shows progressive mucous plugging. Has anyone else had this and what it means.

Hi arthurpops

The progressive mucous plugs is often a build up of mucous that stays in one area, it can block some of the small or larger airways and impact on breathing, coughing and bringing up phlegm. You can discuss this with your oncologist or lung cancer nurse specialist, they may observe this or there can be management of this if the symptoms are troublesome.

You may find our booklet on 'Managing lung cancer symptoms' of use: roycastle.org/app/uploads/2...

If you would like to discuss anything you can call our ask the nurse helpline on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600, alternatively you can email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org

Kind regards
