Morning all hope the new year brings some positivity to us all . I joined the group in September when I got my initial diagnosis ( story in my name ) and I have to say that the support I received at that dark time was nothing short of wonderful and I’ve made some good friends here… this cancer journey sucks doesn’t it , and I know that I feel always scared of something , next treatment , side effects , scans , but I know that the support in here or with the helpline is always given with kindness and understanding from people that know how that feels and I am grateful for that and thanks to everyone who responded to any of my posts despite going through this fear themselves … I hope 2023 brings you some respites from treatment, some positivity , and much love and most importantly some hope ….. love Elly x

A new year met with some gratitude
Hi Elly let’s hope 2023 is kind to us all, I know what u mean I had a CT scan on my chest n pelvis just before Christmas and now all I think is I hope it’s clear then I got a letter through saying that the consultant wants to see me on 9th January I immediately panicked but thanks to my hubby he explained that I now have a new consultant and rather than speak on the phone he would like to see me…..panic over…but that’s how it gets you…we over think everything. I just hope and pray Beryl (the lung lodger) has been behaving.. happy new year petal..
Thanks Elly for posting - glad you get support on here - sometimes it's easier to find out things from those who've been through it than letting our imaginations run riot.... here's to a good 2023 in terms of new treatments, more research, greater understanding and hopefully more investment in staff and equipment to deliver the services we need for lung cancer.
Thank you for the kind post Elly and it is good to hear you feel supported from everyone in the forum.
It is a scary time for many with lung cancer on so many levels, so please know that we are all here to support you in any way, and whenever things overwhelm you, you have the forum and please feel free to contact ask the nurse for any questions you may have or just to offload.
You can email ask the nurse at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600
All the best for 2023.
