Some treatments can upset the stomach or bowel and it is quite common to actually be sick with constipation. As this is a new symptom, we would advise you to discuss this with your oncology team, it could be something unrelated to your cancer treatment, but it would be good for you to get medically checked out, especially if you feel you have lost weight.
As you know, with constipation, it is important to drink plenty fluids, you could also speak to your local pharmacist. You may find this link from Cancer Research UK of interest in coping with constipation: cancerresearchuk.org/about-...
Equally it is good to find out what the cause is and how to manage it best.
Hope you feel better soon and if you would like to discuss anything you can email ask the nurse at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600
Hopefully they will give you something for the sickness and that it is good that you are seeing the oncologist today. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to chat about anything. We do hope you feel better soon.
Metoclopramide is a good option as it promotes gut motility so hopefully this will help. With regards to your appetite, stick to little amounts often, prepare small plates so you are not put off /overwhelmed by a meal. Dietary supplements are available in pharmacies and are also available on prescription in some cases and can be helpful to provide energy if you are losing weight. Might be worth discussing this option with your medical team. Hope you feel better soon
