I have 11A lung cancer adenocarcinoma , waiting for surgery and have had all the tests including CT scan of thorax and abdomen. Hospital phoned me out of the blue saying they need to do a CT scan of my head and neck - is this usual?
Sorry to hear that you have lung cancer and how difficult this must be for you and your loved ones. Some hospitals perform CT scans of the head and neck at the start of a new diagnosis, some as a baseline and to make sure all is clear prior to treatment.
It may be best to ask your lung cancer nurse specialist or oncologist/radiologist, why the request was made. It is understandably a worry for you and hope they can reassure and explain the reason why.
Your post came through as a reply to ours, you may wish to consider posting your query again as a new post, which will allow others in the forum to respond to you, especially if they have experienced the same.
If there is anything else you would like to discuss you can email ask the nurse at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600
