I wanted to share this link to a free counselling service offered by Macmillan for anyone diagnosed with cancer. So many posts on this forum are about the impact on people's mental health when you get a lung cancer diagnosis. My husband has just started it - it is easy to access, with a wellbeing assessment first on the phone, and then the 1st of 6 sessions scheduled promptly after that, by video or phone. The therapists are of course experts at understanding the trauma of living with cancer.
Thank you sassassas for sharing this, a cancer diagnosis causes a huge amount of stress which is totally understandable and the service from Macmillan that you have highlighted can be such a great support. Maggies centers which are often connected to cancer treatment centers also provide a similar service for anyone or their families who have been affected by cancer maggies.org/
If there is anything else you would like to discuss please do not hesitate to contact us at email ask the nurse at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600
