Wheezing chest after eating

Hello all, I’m 10 months in remission following Stage 3 NSCLC, lobectomy and chemo. I’ve been in good health but over the last week I’ve developed a real, raspy wheezing after eating dinner. Has anyone experienced same or give advice please?

Hi Mogs2 my advise is to get it checked out. Are you still under a Lung cancer team if so maybe contact your lung cancer nurse for advice. Take care x

Thank you Ollie13 yes I still have 3 monthly checks but next consultant appointment not until beginning September. I’ll give my CNS a call. Always reassuring to ask on here first. Thank you ;) x

Hello Mogs2,As Ollie13 has said it is best to get this checked over by someone in the medical team that you are under as they have access to your medical records.

The cause of wheeze after eating can be triggered by many things including food allergy, gastric reflux , copd or hernias, the only way to determine the cause for you is to seek medical advice

If there is anything you would like to discuss you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200

Kind regards

wheezing can be caused by many things - including sulphites in some wines and foods - so have a look at what you're taking in, also at this time of year pollens trigger sensitivity in airways and trachea that can sensitise us to things that wouldn't normally cause a reaction - so do mention it to your clinical team or GP... hope you get some answers soon...

Thank you both. GP listened to chest says it sounds clear. Spoke to CNS and my CT was due next month, so Consultant has requested it brought forward just to check. I’m sure it’ll be ok 🤞. So grateful for such a supportive clinical team. Thank you.
