At the end of 2019 I stopped immunotherapy and all was quite well with my lung cancer. I was left with a 19mm tumour that was "inactive" the cancer had gone from my lymph nodes. Roll forward January 2021 after a CT scan it had shown 2 lymph nodes in the middle of my chest had enlarged to 2cm plus each. Just been for PET scan get results next Wednesday when I see my oncologist he did mention after the CT scan results that Radiotherapy was the option this time.
Last time I had cancer I felt optimistic not sure how I'm feeling this time. Has the cancer come back!! and where is it this time. On top of everything else is shielding and Covid which wasn't there when I first started treatment ladt time and I feel quite overwhelmed. Has any one had Radiotherapy in this area for similar and the outcome. So a week isn't long to wait for the results but it feels like a life time. It's strange but I didn't feel like this first time round took it in my stride and was optimistic. Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks

It must be a very anxious time for you - but on the positive side, they have been found and are still relatively small (my tumour removed in Dec 2010 was 7cm) and a radical treatment is available. Many patients experience a recurrence and particularly when localised they can be treated successfully. It's natural when we know something about a condition to feel even more nervous as we're coming from a different knowledge position than the first time when we might either take it in our stride or be very anxious. Also all the questions you're experiencing are natural and will be associated with anger, disappointment, upset too no doubt. hope this helps explain further. good luck. roycastle.org/about-lung-ca...
