I had my bilobectomy 6 months ago and based on a CT scan done just before xmas my oncologist says there is something along the where they did the cut that shouldn't be there.
He says the three options are inflammation, scar tissue or the cancer coming back.
I have a PET scan this afternoon to find out if its the latter. Has anyone had anything similar?
Thanks

I had similar but more than 18 months after my surgery and had a bronchoscopy to look at it but the results were that it was the 'stump' site from the surgery. They've kept a close eye on it since (I've had several bronchoscopies and CT scans over the years). My left upper lobectomy (open surgery) was in Dec 2010. try not to worry - the scan will help them better understand what it is... good luck.
I guess so! I've also been hospitalised several times since 2015 with various chest infections including one where I was put into isolation and chest x-rays again showed irregularities that they said were inflammation/infection. I found the book 'cancer is a word not a sentence' by Dr Rob Buckman reduced my anxiety in thinking that everything must be related to the cancer diagnosis - it's a natural reaction but one I've found has eased with improved understanding of the condition and the context. good luck.
