Been following others for a while but this is the first time I've reached out

My husband's NSCLC stage IV has spread to his pleural lining & lymph nodes and is causing a large pleural effusion which has been drained previously but now pushing his heart out of position.....has anyone else had this experience?

Hi,

Welcome to the forum where you will be supported by others who find themselves in a similar situation to you. Hopefully your husband will be feeling more comfortable after the drainage of the large amount of fluid.

If you would like to speak to one of the helpline nurses they can be contacted by email at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org during the festive season. Alternatively you can speak to one of the nurses from 9.00-3.00pm on Friday 3rd January on Freephone 0800 358 7200(Option2).

Kind regards,

All the team at the Roy Castle Helpline

My partner has the same, he has a drain permanently in his left side for the time being and has to drain every few days. He started with 1.8 litres of fluid but it now only about 70ml however the colour has just recently changed and there is some blood evident in the fluid coming off. Will ask the doctor about it next week.

Hi, my partner had a lot of fluid and they drained it twice but then he had a drain put in so he could do it at home every few days....it’s gone down to 40-50ml in 7 days now so it’s coming out tomorrow we think.
