Hi

Just wondering if anyone's had any issues with this drug (I've had brain swelling) and if so what action was taken.

Thanks in advance

Hi - I had this before Pembro and CT showed two brains tumours - mets from the lung. Treated with dexamethasone to reduce swelling and then steriotatic radiosurgery. This was a year ago and 🤞🤞no reoccurrence xx

That's reassuring Elt 79. Did you continue with Pembro?

Dear Aamar

Many on Pembrolizumab have side effects that are well managed, however for some it can cause inflammation and swelling in the brain (Encephalitis), the important thing as you have already done, is reporting any new symptoms to receive prompt medical treatment.

Along with the medical management of symptoms, the drug would be discontinued and alternative treatment sought.

If you wish to discuss anything our nurse helpline number is 0800 358 7200.

Hope you feel better soon.

All the very best.

Thanks Roy Castle. Perhaps if they give me radiation I might be able to continue with Pembro. Oncologist here suggested cancer could be causing the swellung. Problem is how will they know?

Dear Aamar

There can be a number of reasons for brain swelling including certain medications or cancer, but I would go with what the Oncologist has said, and if they offer Radiation this could assist with reducing the swelling and improving your symptoms.

Wishing you all the very best Aamar
