Hi All

My lovely step dad has suddenly become unwell and diagnosed with squamous cell lung cancer and brain mets. We are devastated. My dad dies 3 years ago of lung cancer and I have just ran the London marathon for Roy Castle. this has shaken us.

We want to do all we can. can you recommend and foods that people say are useful in the fight against cancer? We want to try and do everything we can

Many Thanks

Sarah

During treatment the best kind of food to give him is anything he will eat. It’s best to avoid refined sugars but his brain and heart need sugars to function.

When my mom went through whole brain radiation it affected her senses of taste and smell. Foods she absolutely adored suddenly tasted or smelled like old, dirty gym shoes. A food she craved one day caused nausea the next. Two days later she loved it again.

Keep a variety of his favorites on hand but make milk shakes with Boost. My mom liked cheese, pickled beets, chocolate biscuits with chocolate mint frosting, bananas, pickles, and bacon best. I ate ice cream with fudge sauce every night of my lung cancer chemo and radiation 7.5 years ago.

Thank you for your efforts to care for your stepdad. To receive such devotion he must be a wonderful man. Thank you to for your efforts to advocate and raise money to fight lung cancer.

Hello sarah_budden,

I am very sorry to hear that your step dad has been diagnosed with lung cancer, this will be a very difficult time for the whole family. Denzie has given you very good advice on diet, small appetising portions of food that he likes, chemotherapy can also alter your taste buds and you may find that he is liking things that may have not appealed to him in the past. I have added a link to cancer research site which has some tips on what to eat and some links to other articles on diet and cancer

Most people don’t know the pill they give you to try stop cancer spreading if a form of stomach bacteria.

How mads that .. doctors well good one are starting to look at bowls stomach as believe it or not that is where you immunity is formed.

So one as to question IF things have worked for so long WHAT as now gone wrong.

Take for example ACID REFUX doctors would rather think most cases are squashed stomach IGNORANT to fact a fungus that lives in guts can cause acid over production ACID reflux.
