Tests & more tests
Hi Vivienneann
Welcome to the forum.
It is good the consultant is being thorough in their investigations. There are other respiratory conditions that can present on CT findings and not necessarily cancer, e.g COPD.
Investigations for COPD are usually, CT , PET scan and lung function tests which you can find in the UK NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines on their website: nice.org.uk
It is understandable that you are feeling scared, but encouraging that the consultant is looking at possible COPD, perhaps hold onto that as a positive tool to calm your anxiety and fear when it starts to overwhelm you.
The swollen lymph node does not immediately indicate cancer but can be benign or a granuloma (this is a response to inflammed/infected tissue).

Hi Vivienneann, Sorry to hear you have chest infection and have to have tests etc. I know its easier said than done but try not to worry. You are in good hands and the tests dont hurt you. I have had them in the past. No matter what the outcome is dont forget its treatable.
Like the Roy Castle helpline has said it is not necessarily cancer. Even if it does turn out to be cancer its not always as scary as you think. I had cancer almost 5 years ago and I am still going strong.
Big positive vibes being sent to you. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Take care. xx
