Dear Brogan-12

Welcome to the forum. Chemotherapy can reduce the amount of red blood cells causing anaemia with symptoms of fatigue and breathlessness, which is helped by a blood transfusion.

How does your partner travel to his appointments? depending on the area you are in they may be eligible for travel costs or assistance.

You could discuss with the lung cancer specialist nurse that your partner has been allocated to, or request one from the specialist as they can provide lots of valuable information and support.

It may be that your partner may be kept in overnight for the blood transfusion, which is normal and also the fact the distance of travel involved.

It looks like your partner is getting well cared for with the blood checks which hopefully is reassuring for you both.

I have provided 2 links which gives some information on blood transfusions and chemotherapy.

macmillan.org.uk/

cancerresearchuk.org/

If you do require travel assistance, your local hospital may provide patient transport or you could call macmillan cancer services on 0808 808 0000

where they can provide you with information, advice and support.

We have a free nurse led telephone helpline if you wish to discuss anything on 0800 358 7200

All the best
