my husband is one week and 2 days into this targeted therapy for lung cancer and his mouth is so sore. Has anyone experience of managing this or any knowledge of whether the side effects ease in time ? Thank you Tracey

Hi TraClo,

I am sorry your husband is experiencing mouth pain which has a variety of causes.I have attached a link which covers many causes.Depending on the cause of the pain before buying any of the products suggested, check with your GP or Pharmacist if these are available on prescription.

Also,It is best to use a detergent free toothpaste as the foaming agents in normal toothpaste(sodium laurel sulphate) can aggravate a painful mouth).

Kind regards,

All the team at the Roy Castle Helpline

Hello TraClo,

Have you heard of Orabase? We haven't tried it yet, but I bought a tube, in case Mum develops mouth sores, then I can put it on straight away. I hope it helps your husband. Batgirl

I also read to avoid "mouthwash with alcohol" as it's very drying.
