Hi just wondering if this has happened to anyone else I had my right lung removed last year due to having lung cancer & 2 years ago both my husband and dad had lung cancer sadly they've both passed away.. what I wanted to know is after my surgery I had 4 sessions of aggressive chemo went for a ct scan & found my lymph nodes enlarged does this mean my cancer is back.

Hello Tracy.

I can only talk from my own experience. I was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2012 and had radiotherapy and chemotherapy. This sadly, did not work and I had my left lung removed in 2013 followed immediately by further chemotherapy. A scan thereafter revealed that the cancer had spread to lymph nodes in my neck and chest. My oncologist then sent my lung tissue back for genetic testing and it was discovered that I was ALK positive which is a genetic mutation. For the last 20 months I have been taking a drug called Crizotinib. After 6 weeks of taking the drug some of the tumours had disappeared and some had shrunk by two thirds. I am not sure if your oncologist has explored the possibility of you being ALK positive. For more information on the drug enter Crizotinib in the search box on this site and you will be able to read about other people's experiences. I would suggest you speak to your lung cancer nurse specialist. Take care.

Are you having investigations into the cause of lymph node enlargement? I had node enlargement found at annual CT in December 2015 (also had my right lung removed in June 2014) but biopsy found it to be benign - not cancer.
