MRI scan

Has anyone had an MRI scan following a lobectomy ? I have to have one for reumatlogy but recall being told that metal staples/ clips are used internally during surgery

Hi Julie I had a lobectomy 15 months ago had a MRI scan last sept but that was on my head, did`nt know about using metal staples during surgery, nobody told me that

I had an upper lobectomy many many years ago I still have metal staples in me

HI well I did`nt know that maybe I have got some as well, can I ask you if you had chest numbness after the op I still have a lot of numbness even after 15 months

Yes I had numbness for about 18 months. I took a long time to heal.

Hi yes they use staples/clips internally, i spoke to radiology today and they said it was safe to have MRI as its a certain type of metal they use now to what they used to ! I do stil have numbness after surgery, it seems quite normal after speaking to others, its to do with the nerves being cut during the surgery.
