My husband is very hoarse. He went to see an ENT and the ENT said that radiation paralyzed his left vocal cord. Hubby starts therapy soon. I just want to hear his normal voice again

vocal cord issue
Sorry to read that - similar happened to others - one being a BBC broadcaster whose voice was his living - but over time, his seems to have improved and now mainly on radio rather than tv. Have they suggested whether it will improve once his treatment stops and what vocal cord exercises might improve it? hope you get some answers soon....
No. They just say therapy may help but they don't know
I was diagnosed with a condition called ILO (inducible laryngeal obstruction) formerly known as VCD (vocal cord dysfunction) about 18 months ago - after yet another nasty chest infection had me hospitalised in isolation in Jan 2019. It has affected my voice and breathing but took a lot of tests to eliminate it wasn't uncontrolled asthma - (it mimics asthma) and explains why I haven't responded to asthma meds. It's been suggested it may have been contributed to by my lung surgery in Dec 2010 but when I mentioned I'd had some recent bronchoscopies, that was also suggested at contributing to it. I've been given various exercises by a speech and language therapist/respiratory physiotherapist to improve my dysfunctional breathing/breathlessness but can't say I've noticed much difference in struggling to find my voice especially in the morning or swallowing tablets that previously weren't a problem. hope he gets some relief soon. good luck to you both.
Very sorry he's had this added challenge. Please let us know how the rehab goes.
My husband saw a therapist for his hoarseness. His left vocal cord moves if he turns his head left. She gave him home exercises to do. Hopefully it helps
