My dad (52, non-smoker) was diagnosed with NSCLC Advanced stage with distant metastasis to his right femur (thigh) and collar bone.

In October 2020, he started with Chemotherapy (Carboplatin + Pemetrexed). After completing 4 cycles of chemotherapy plus 2 cycles of Keytruda, we did a pet scan on 1st Jan 2021.

The scans show reduction in the largest node in right lung from 2.1x2.2x2.8 cm to 1.1x1.6x1.4 cm. Additionally, the nodes from his femur and collar bone have disappeared. He has been able to tolerate the treatment well so far with just some side effects on the 4th to 6th day after chemo.

Doctor is now moving him to Maintenance therapy and has prescribed him 6 months of Pemetrexed + Keytruda.

Of course, uncertainty still exists, but this was the first positive news & sign of relief that we have had since he was diagnosed in August.

I am very confident that my father will complete his treatment successful & win this battle against Cancer. I hope my post gives you hope and much-needed strength in your own journeys.

Much love to all the brave warriors out there! <3

Fantastic news for your both - I remember feeling such a sense of relief when my dad started to recover from his two bowel cancers in his 50s (I was in my mid 20s at the time) as we hadn't thought he'd reach 60. - he'll be 91 next month. I was 52 and a never smoker when diagnosed with my lung cancer after my lobectomy 10 years ago. hope you're able to celebrate his progress with him.
