I am scared to death of these results. I will post the results after. Biopsy on 1 lymph node was negative and inconclusive on the second. Mom is being super positive right now thank God! She has squamous non small cell lung cancer.

Had a pet scan after a chest xray lit up a small tumor. The surgeon went in done a biopsy and it came back cancer. Three days later he came in and said I had stage three it was in my lympnodes. So I went to see oncologist he wanted me to do radiation I couldn't I felt too weak. I did six months of chemo I am now a 7year survivor they also removed my upper left lobe.we are here if you need to talk ,cry rant. We know what your going thru we've been there still are. We're all here for you so try not to be afraid. Tell your mom if she wants to talk were hear if she has questions we'll answer the best we can. If one of us for will. I tell everyone hope, fight and never give up. Let us know what's happening we care about you and your mom. Love susiejo1948

I am glad your Mom is staying positive. My oncologist told me that a good attitude is a very good thing to have.

I had my upper left lobe removed 6 1/2 years ago for stage 2 squamous cell, and I am now about 20 months out from a second LC, this time the upper right lobe went bye bye. I also have emphysema, but I am still here, still above ground.

This disease is survivable, some of the people on this site are living proof of that.

Your mom’s positive attitude will go a long way to help her recovery. When the PET scan is done they are likely do an MRI of her brain to make certain that there are no brain metastases.

This is a tough process to get through and having it happen at the holidays adds an extra level of stress. There’s a lot of hurry up and wait when getting a complete diagnosis. Parts of it are like a rollercoaster with ups, downs and wild twists.

Since my diagnosis in 2010, I have read hundreds, if not thousands of patient experiences. I’ve made a point of learning what I can about the disease, diagnosis and treatment. I’m going to take the testing on the nodes as a good sign that they have got her disease at an earlier stage.

Brain mri clean, pet scan reveals only 2 lymph nodes and original lung tumor. Stage 3b. Of course we thought the worst. Good news not great.

No, not great. But survivable. Before treatment starts have her start walking a bit everyday. That will help her overall with recovery. When you know what the treatment will be let us know and we can share strategies to deal with side effects.

Edit to add: I’m stage 4. Was given 10-15 months to live 9 years ago.
