I am now half way through my chemo and radiation treatment. So far the radiation looks like it is working. So far the side effects have not been too bad. I have not had the fatigue that my son had not the bad nausea a friend had. But, I did get heartburn so bad I thought I was dying, sat up all night crying. Now i have medicine that makes the heartburn go away, learn a few foods to stay a way from, suck lot of tums and forget my midnight snack (which is helping my waist line). Due to one of the chemo drugs I had nephropathy in my feet and hands. Am taking Gabapentin to help with that pain. My hair is thinning (it has always been been thin) so I have a couple of wigs. Can now change my hair style every day from blonde/gray to silver/gray (which is my true color now).
The best part is the people who work at the West Michigan Cancer Center in Kalamazoo, MI. They are so friendly and helpful. They try so hard to under stand but most importantly they do not pity you, I would advice anyone to go there if they had cancer and lived in the Southwest part of Michigan.
