Hi, I had tumor removed in my lower right lung in march of 2016. now they say I have a tumor in my right lung in a liphnod but no where else. it's close to my heart this time and can't be operated on because my lung function is only 47 persenct. radiation and chemo is the plan. any feedback would be welcome. TY

Mary, have you gotten a second opinion.

A second opinion would be great idea. If it's that close to the heart though you might look into stereotactic radiation, either gammaknife or cyberknife. They need to test the slides from your lobectomy for targetable mutations. Ideally they would follow that up with a liquid biopsy to learn what type of circulating tumor DNA is in your system.

If your local YMCA has a livestrong program look into joining. They adapt a program to your strengths and limitations. Also insist on Pulmonary rehab. Telll your dr you would like a new Pulmonary function trst to establish a new baseline. I would do the rehab first then the Livestrong.

Do some research on the Gamma knife. It is perfect for tumor's that are hard to get to. I was diagnosed with small cell in Feb 2016. Treated with chemo & radiation. Had precautionary radiation to the brain. Was doin good went for s PET scan Jan 3rd everything was good. Went for an MRI on the 6th & found it spread to the brain. Ugh!!!!! I had 6 lesions removed in I day, 1proceedure. Also look up Organifi it is a herbal drink. I have stared drinking it everyday. Herbs are good like tumeric, ginger. There is one herb in it that actually say's it fight's lung cancer. I figure it can't hurt!!! I wish you well. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 You got this

I'm sorry to hear you've gotten a diagnosis of cancer again. Ask the doctors any and all questions you might have. They should be able to tell you what to expect.

May God give you strength and peace.
