Thank you for posting Hidden Hopefully new research on sepsis in patients with cancer can make a difference in fighting this devastating and life-threatening condition.
Jeff, so sorry to hear that your Dad has suffered sepsis - horrible.
Thank you for the interesting article, and I agree with you - this is a very exciting area for research. Let's hope that we see less and less of it in the future as medicine learns more about how to prevent!
JeffAjaxSmith - Sepsis is a beast almost as bad as cancer itself.
I almost died this past July when I woke up barely able to move, and once the meatwagon got me to the hospital, which is about 5 miles from my front door, the ER doctor told my wife to call in the family and the family priest because, "your husband most likely will not make it".
That was the second time an ER doctor has told my wife that, with me laying there listening. Of course I lived through both issues, and this past July, was so right there in front of me. I simply knew I was going to die, and I was trying to prepare myself for it. Which was just an outright strange thing to deal with.
Anyway, Sepsis almost got me before cancer did, and truthfully, I am not sure which one would be best. I just know more needs to be done, to educate everyone about sepsis and just how deadly it is, and how quickly things go from crappy, to dead.
Thanks everyone for the discussion on the very important topic of sepsis. A video from the Sepsis Alliance was posted with an article this past week: thecourier.com/family-news/...
