I've already talked to two therapists that use it with good results. I have it done privately once a week. My question was for patients with lymphedema that are using it and if they ate getting results?

Hi sorry - I misunderstood, you can read self treatment testimonials in testimonials on the website or if you would like, I can post you our brand new booklet which includes all FAQ and testimonials from personal unit users and therapists. My email is info@physiopod.co.uk. I am exhibiting in London this weekend and am back in office next Tuesday. Take care.

Do you mean self-administered Hivamat/MLD, using a Personal Unit, at home?

Yes Lynora that's what I mean. Although it was expensive it means I don't need to travel to get MLD which wasn't available that often anyway.

Hi, I have leg and general Lymphoedema and my therapist used the Hivimat machine on me occasionally. As I felt it was helping me I bought one of my own. Yes it was expensive at £2000 but I figured it was worth it as my condition is incurable. I use it every day and am sure it helps the lymph fluid building up which in turn makes the condition more manageable. The makers do a hand held model which is battery operated. Therefore you can take it on holiday etc. Hope this helps.

if it uses vibration, sounds like it might not be useful for people with rheumatoid joints

anyone know?

It does not use vibration but deep oscillation which is different. You can contact the people at physiopod if you are in the UK, they are ver helpful.

Hi Norbette,

Sincere apologies for not replying sooner, I have been away for a couple of weeks.

It works wonderfully with Arthritis, there is a 15 minutes a day programme on the personal unit, all pre-programmed 10 mins in a high frequency band and 5 minutes in a lower.

It's probably easier if I tell you a bit about how it works so you can see that it isn't going to cause you pain like ordinary vibration therapy?

DEEP OSCILLATION® is a patented electromechanical therapeutic procedure using resonant vibration of the tissue with DEEP OSCILLATION® equipment from Physiomed, Germany. A special design makes it possible, using electrostatic attraction and friction, "to produce mechanical vibrations in treated tissues of the body, not only at the skin on the surface but also in deeper tissues" (Brenke and Siems 1996). Schönfelder and Berg (1991) refer to a "penetrating vibration and pumping effect deep into the tissue". The treatment procedure is characterised by minimal external mechanical effects, which allows it to be used in cases of acute pain, fresh injuries and in treatment of wounds. Numerous pilot studies have demonstrated pain reduction, minimisation of oedema and anti-fibrotic effects. It is commonly used for the treatment of Lymphoedema (Jahr, S., Schoppe, B. and Reißhauer A. (2008) Effect of treatment with low intensity and extremely low frequency electrostatic fields (Deep Oscillation®) on breast tissue and pain in patients with secondary breast lymphoedema. J. Rehabil. Med. 40, 645-650).

With Arthritis, DEEP OSCILLATION will help to reduce pain, improve lymph flow and increase mobility. Julie has worked with osteo-arthritis clients with good results and Christine Talbot has worked with rheumatoid arthritis and achieved effective results. If you are in the UK/Ireland you can find a therapist to see what effect it has on you before committing to a purchase if you had that in mind?

This testimonial is from a lady in America:

“My arthritis acts up regularly and makes it very difficult for me to get daily chores done. The only treatment that I have gotten that helps significantly is the Hivamat. After one treatment to the painful areas, I get immediate relief. This relief lasts long enough for me to go about my daily life. I am terribly grateful to have the Hivamat as an option to relieve my pain.”

Mrs. Netha Sylvest, Patient of Cornerstone Physical Therapy Prairieville, LA

If I can be of any further assistance do let me know.

Have a nice evening and again, apologies for the delay in responding.

Best Regards

Hi KMDB

I made an enquiry by email today to PhysioPod about their Deep Oscilliation personal sports model and Julie called me on the phone to answer my questions. She was very positive about the results obtained ( well she would be ) but she will send me details of where I could go to get a trial treatment and says they also do a four week trial and will give your money back if you are not satisfied, less an amount for the hire, they have not had one returned as yet. It is expensive but if it brings relief it may be worth it. I will ask my therapist about it tomorrow.
