Hi Janey have yu tried the cream which is more oil based and a lot more richer than aqueous cream. I cant remember the name of it. Im ok in the shower its just afterwards my leg gets quite red and tingly x

Could the cream be Epaderm? It's very good, and can be used as a wash. Put a blob in the palm of your hand, mix with a bit of water to make it creamy, apply it to the legs, and then just allow the water running off your body to rinse it away. There will be a layer of moisturiser left behind, so gently pat the legs to dry them, or, like some people I know, set your hairdryer to medium, and air dry!

I have some clients who have problems with pain in their legs first thing in the morning, but once they have showered and donned their garments, and taken a few minutes to rest, they are fine.

Thank you for all your advice

I use Eucerin lotion and also Eucerin shower gel prescribed by my Lymph clinic which i find is great on my legs, Its just the point the water has contact with my skin, as soon as i put my garments on they are fine. But the pain is like my skin is splitting.

my lymphoedema nurses prescribed Dermol (500?) shower wash for me (for the lower legs), as well as the lotion for afterwards

I was prescribed liquid paraffin for my legs but it inflamed them so stopped that straightaway. I now just use aqueous cream. I find it's the best for me!!

When my legs and feet are really swollen I find that water hitting my legs and feet from the shower really hurts so I tend to have a luke warm bath instead even though I have been told that having a bath is a no-no. As long as the water isn't too warm and I don't have a long soak, I have no problems with it.

I also use Cetraben cream for my legs which I use after showering/bathing. I get it on prescription and a little goes a long way. Even my hubby uses it!

I find that cooler water feels best on them and i use a shower chair and rest my legs on the back of the shower while i wash my hair, it keeps the water off

them and keeps the swelling down a bit having them elevated a little.

Hi janey, i have no problem with water. Water helps your lymph to work better. I would recommend you to consult a dermatologist maybe. Do you have lymphedema?
