I was in hospital for 2 weeks with cellulitis in my foot and leg, had a bad bout, sent home on antibiotics but went to doctors given more but different antibiotics I’ve had in the past along with other antibiotics to kill any bacteria, leg and foot peeling lots, doctor gave me savlon to apply daily to also kill any bacteria, still can’t walk but today is the first day can put foot to floor without hardly and pain, foot still tight with fluid and areas look yellow, anyone else experienced this and how long until u was on your feet again?

Cellulitis and heeling process
The first bout of this condition left me dependent on crutches for 10 days and then bit bny bit I regained my mobility. The second time I had the cellulitis which was Christmas gone I recognised the symptoms immediately and had treatment immediately from my GP on the 24th Dec 2018. As I recognised the problem quickly I did not lose any mobility at all although occasionally I look at my feet when they are hot taut and extremely tight and question whether I have really got rid of it. But what is aggravating my feet situation is the fact that I am teaching at the moment in a college and I do not get any opportunities to put my feet up during the day. So at the end of the day my lymphoedema is taking over until I get home to my tea and my feet up.
Hi,
I’ve never had it this bad before, my skin is peeling all over my foot and leg, I haven’t used any savlon since early this week but the doctor said it will do no harm just kill off any bacteria that could be living on the skin, I can put abit of weight on my foot but not fully walk yet as my ankle area still feels tight with fluid, I have the doctors tomorrow and I’m sure I will get prescribed at least another week of antibiotics, cellulitis is awful isn’t it, I just can’t wait to get back to normal again, I have dermal cream I’m going to use, I just want this dead skin to peel off
Should you not be on intravenous antibiotics if this is your first bout of cellulitis? I had 10 days of being on a drip with my first ever bout of cellulitis 5 as an out patient in hospital and the other 5 from visiting nurses. After that I had oral antibiotics and painkillers. With the drip treatment my foot went down much quicker, reducing the tautness of my skin and easing the redness/blueness. I gather this is the normal route of treatment if you get it badly. All the best with getting your skin into order.
Yes I was on a drip every 6 hours but my first 3 days in hospital they would just insert antibiotics through my candler every 12 hours so it wasn’t a continuous drip but after day 3 they then put me on another antibiotic which was a drip that would take half an hour every 6 hours, I was let home 13 days later on crutches with a 5 day course of antibiotics the same as the drip antibiotics but figured I needed more once those finished so went to my doctor and he gave me clarithromycin whic was for 7 days x2 a day 500mg so had my last one last night and going back to see the doctor today but I’m sure I will need another course as still have tightness in my ankle so can’t fully walk on it but can apply some pressure.
I was just in the hospital and my skin on my feet look horrible just horrible. I had a nurse assistant give me a shower and she really scrubbed my legs and feet then she rubbed them with lotion. I need that for a week! I feel for you.
