Yes I've had. if you aren't wearing compression stockings try them. sometimes it helps. the only natural products that work for me are pure peppermint and this cream called ice blue. other than that is is lidocaine patches answer pain pills. unless you have bru situs Wichita you can try a cream or have shot. sorry you feel so bad and hope you find some relief.

Pain could indicate infection (there does not need to be surface heat). See your GP today - ask for an emergency or urgent appointment.

YOU are NOT being a pain - that's what these posts are for. I had exactly the same symptoms and feelings, and would cheerfull have stuck a Stanley knife into my leg to relieve pressure - if I had had one and thought it would work.

I despair of the way the NHS ignores this conditions - but all I can say is that persistence sort of paid off for me. I went to clinics at the Marsden, Chelsea and Westminster and others - but eventually what clicked was a Hungarian Lympodeamie Nurse at Guy's Hospital clinic who said the only thing for my set of circumstances was Manual Lymphatic Drainage. I feel resentful that NHS will pay a lot for me to have support tights (which don't work for me) but won't pay for MLD - so I pay for it myself.

Good luck, and I inow it's not much consolation when your leg feels in itchy fire - but you are not alone!

Me NHS - GP and lymphoedema clinic pay for my compression hosiery but won't pay for any MLD.

can I ask what is MLD

MLD stands for Manual Lymph Drainage - carried out by qualified therapists but costs within the region of £35 - £40 per session For me the effect is only temporary, but that is just my experience. Do see your GP and I hope you feel better soon. Take Care. x

So sorry you are feeling so bad. I have had the same kind of feelings in my legs and I had cellulitis, which needed antibiotics. Do try to see your GP urgently and explain both the feeling and the answers you have had on here. I wish you all the best.

Dear Lizmurphy61, Know exactly what you are going through, I have itched so much to the point of drawing blood. The heat so intense you can not bear the covers on the bed touching your legs. Please as Lynora says doctors or A&E, don't panic as they will help you. Remember we are here for you, I am not much use but people on here have helped me, and if you want to moan, laugh or whatever you feel like go ahead. Take care and please let us know how you get on. xx.

It sounds very much like Cellulitis to me. Get to the doctor asap.

Hi Liz I'm very sorry to hear of the pain you are in. I know how agonising persistent burning pain is. I have primary LE and had acute, debilitating burning in my lower legs and feet throughout 2015. When I was seen at the LE clinic at St George's Hosp in Sep 2015 I was told by the LE specialist doctor that the burning pain was due to a type of peripheral neuropathy in my feet (that was exacerbated due to the oedema).

I have had Cellulitis (bacteriall skin infection common in LE limbs) in my entire upper leg before - Cellulitis causes a heat/pain sensation but it isn't nearly as intense as fiery burning nerve pain. Does the pain in your legs/feet reduce when you put them under cool/cold water? If running cold water over them does alleviate the pain then it is very possible you have nerve endings firing off which are causing the pain you are in. (It could also be a vascular issue). Classic nerve pain is intense burning like flame. This can be alleviated by taking a medicine called Neurontom aka Gabapentin. Speak to your GP - you may need a referral to a pain consultant and /or a referral to St George's LE Clinic. My local LE nurse was unfamiliar with pain related to nerves caused by oedema from LE; therefore my local LE nurse/therapist referred me up to the St George's LE clinic.

Take care

My pain started 6 years ago in my right leg as well and has never quit. I take pain meds and gabapentin to help with the burning stabbing pain.

It's very frustrating not knowing what the underlying cause of painful symptoms is. Have you been diagnosed with Lymphoedema after having a Lymphoscintigram? Or have no investigations been undertaken yet to determine that you have impaired Lymphatics? It's important to have a Lymphosctintigram (gold standard scan to assess Lymphoedema) which is something the LE clinic nurse can refer you to

In the meantime keeping your legs elevated as much as you practically can will give some relief, hopefully. All of us with painful lower extremity LE elevate our legs as much as possible as it reduces acute symptoms
