My Lymphodema is in both breasts and I'm wondering if it's worth having a massage with a qualified Lymphodema therapist, any one out there had this, was it worth it and did it so any good, love and hugs to all x

Yes, it really is the best option.  If your clinic don't offer it, you can find an independent therapist here - mlduk.org.uk/therapists/

The therapist will be able to show you how to help yourself with self-lymphatic drainage, and may be able to advise on what compression garments are available.

Hi, first of all, sorry to hear about your situation. I have arm, trunkal and breast lymphedema, MLD works, it moves much of the fluid away from the area and decongests. I start hurting if I leave it for too long without MLD. You can get it on your insurance for 12 sessions usually ( under alternative therapies such as reflexology, etc ) or find an NHS hospital that offers the massage sessions or a charity that does. You can also do your own massage but, someone has to show you, since both breasts are affected, you would probably have to drain in the groin or your back so, different technique than the one where only one breast is involved. There is a new company called LyMed they make amazingly soft and comfortable lymphedema garments covering chest and all, off the peg and made to measure. hrhealthcare.co.uk/lymed-pr...  (I am not affiliated any, I am personally waiting for my lymphedema specialist to "learn" how to measure properly as it is a bit detailed ), they use them for burn victims as well who lost part of their lymphatic system with great results. Do you use a regular bra? That did not help me as one needs compression. Losing weight helps as well. Best of luck!

hi, I have lymphoedema in my left arm, breast, underarm shoulder and a bit on my back. I have massage through penny brohan, they offer 4 sessions free and you can space them out. This helps me as I can do massage at home and every 6 months or so have a full lymph massage which helps massively. I hope this helps. Xx
