Where can I find trousers to fit large calf?

Lymphoedema in one leg only. Problem is manageable but my left calf is considerably larger than my right calf and I am having problems finding trousers to fit. Apart from praying for a return of 1970's flares can anyone suggest source of big calf trousers?

Im in the exact same boat! I found that boot cut extra stretchy jeans in a size bugger helped(wear a belt on the waiste) from Dorty Perkins or Evans ir New Look!

Plus in the summer, Sainsbury ate doung a nicewide legged Linen trouser, in a variety of colours!

Asda jeans/trousers too are good.

Tip for jeans though, if avoidable dont tumble dry!

Failing that do a google search or go in ebay, hope this helps!

Pps... Victoria Beckham last week was seen in Bell bottom flared jeans hooray, hopefully the rest will follow suit!! Preferably in a size 16 very stretchy version at a tenth of the price!!?

Thank you both- perhaps I should have made it clear that I am a man. I have tried M&S but I can barely squeeze my left leg into the trousers which match my waist/inside leg measurements. At present I can wear less than half the trousers in my wardrobe, and they will soon wear out!

Hi, I know you wrote five years ago, but I have just been searching for ex large trousers on google, and I found your entry. I also found a website, sizedwell.co.uk; among other things they specialise in extra wide leg trousers. I've just bought a pair for £35.99. and the description says they are 31 inches at calf height! That's plenty big enough for me, although it might be a struggle if ever I get cellulitis again [perish the thought!!] Anyway I thought the info might be useful. They list 5 different styles of trouser specifically for special needs, although they might have others that are ex large as well

Hi Timberwolf. Thanks for the thought, and well done for digging into so old a post. My problem is that my legs are out of proportion to my waist! Trousers with 32" waist sit comfortably with something to spare. But my left leg, especially below the knee, demands a much larger size. Sizedwell starts at 34" waist which would be too big. I get by on trousers that look ok unless I am having a bad-leg-day! Still it is more of an inconvenience that a handicap, I don't have much to grumble about.

I'm afraid I tried 2 different types and makes of wide leg trousers from sizewell , I ordered them both in XXL 29 leg; voluminous trousers turned up, but the body was ludicrously large, with the crotch in the right place the waistband pulled up to my chest, and I'm 6'4"! Can't they understand that normally proportioned people can have swollen legs? Sizewell were incredibly helpful, a lady ran around the warehouse measuring trousers but to no avail, I blame the manufacturers they seem to assume that if you have swollen legs, the rest of your body must be equally out of proportion as well.

Please advise if you have any success, I'm thinking of getting trousers made to measure, if I can afford it.

I have been buying some trousers from very catalogue that are excellent, they are wide legged, and a nice material and good price, and I am actually a size smaller in them than I would be anywhere else, they come in size 14-32, and lovely and wide, and trust me I have very very big legs. They also do different leg lengths.

Morning Bigcalf I understand your problem I suffer when buying for OH - taken to using Comfy clothes they do big shoes big trousers .

You could always resort to wearing jogging bottoms . Good luck xgins

Hi bigcalf i have lymphoedema in one leg and i buy my trousera from fiftyplus catalogue they have a great selection of wide leg and the ones by joanna hope are particularly good ..hope this helps

I to am having problems getting trousers to fit around the calf i have orderd several pairs of trousers from premier man but for every 3 pairs i order two get sent back not big enough in the calf I also looked at getting trousers made to measure but at £125 plus a pair not gone down that road yet!

i get wide leg trousers from evans especially summer when they have the linen ones in various colours, ive also managed with some of the classin trousers from Bon Marche.

Hi there, I buy all my jeans secondhand from a site a little like eBay where I have set up an agent sending me an e-mail with a picture everytime a new pair in my size is added, then I can quickly see if they could be an option. If they look allright I ask the seller for measurements of the waist, length and legwidth. I never used to buy second hand clothes but it seems impossible to find anything in shops, especially these skinny-jeans times.

My son has exactly the same problem and we too have resorted to eBay which has worked very well. Fashions right now do seem on the narrow side, hopefully that will change! He was quite disheartened after a day's shopping, finding nothing that fitted. But now we use the same strategy as Lymphedemagirl and have had several successes, particularly with jeans. In fact I'm now a bit of an eBay addict and buy stuff for the rest of the family there too.

Hi brother I have the exact same problem with my right leg. The smartest trousers I could find were the M&S Straight fit Trekking Trousers (code T175025B) note the ones that you can zip off the bottom to make them into shorts. I have bought many pairs of trousers and these are the loosest, but I think they have got smaller and they seem to be seasonal.

Sorry to hear of this difficulty. I understand as I find it hard to get tops to fit well, one arm being so much thicker than the other! I was thinking tho that with trousers maybe one total side seam could be taken in, tho it sounds complicated. Goodluck.

Hi bigcalf - I totally empathise. My left leg lymphoedema appeared about 5 weeks ago after a nasty bout of cellulitis. Next have got some great harem trousers in at the moment.....a kind of jersey material which is really comfy. I've worn them casually and dressed up.Oh, and they're "only" £18, so I've bought several colours. Hope this helps. Take care.

It depends on how much extra you need. And the type of trousers.I found buying a larger size of jeans than I needed and then... carefully undoing the inside seam of the offending leg. This gave me enough top look respectable .

I have used a similar solution myself but gone a bit further and added a gusset made by sacrificing another pair and it works well. It's just a shame that manufacturer's are thrifty with the seam allowances. It would be so much better if they had a generous allowance on the inside leg seams and pressed them open.
