Is it normal to feel worse after Nucala injection?

Hi! This is my first post.

I started the monthly Nucala injections in November 2021. So I’ve had 2 so far. I can’t feel any improvement whatsoever at this point. My consultant told me it could take up 3 months to notice an improvement, but given how I’m feeling right now, 2 weeks after my 2nd injection, I’m just not believing that will happen.

I was put on the injections because I was getting chest infections every 6-8 weeks. A few of those infections were pneumonia. I went through lots of tests and they confirmed I have severe asthma

After my first injection I got a chest infection 2 weeks later and the same seems to be happening again.

My energy levels have also been rock bottom and I want to sleep at unsuitable times. I’d be so grateful if anyone can tell me there is a light at the end of this tunnel, because I’m not feeling very happy with myself feeling ill, yet again! Does it really get better? Many thanks for reading.

I'm sorry you are struggling. I took Nucala for almost a year and it did not help me at all. I finally stopped it. My allergist said it takes a bit to kick in, but apparently my body didn't like it or respond to it. I loved Xolair and that worked great for my severe asthma and helped control my allergies too. Maybe you need to ask if there is an alternate you can try. I know there's a lot of hoops to jump through to switch, so it may take a bit to get the ball rolling.

Thank you for your honest reply. I am going to see how I am after my third injection and if I end up with another chest infection, I’m going to speak to my consultant.
