I'm looking for a new allergist. I have allergic asthma but have been able to keep it mostly controlled with medication. I am wondering if a pulmonologist or respiratory therapist would be a better match than an allergist. I don't want to take allergy shots. What type of doctor do you go to?

Pulmonologist
My pulmonoligist is an expert in allergic asthma, I think many are! Good luck!!
I also have allergy induced asthma and my pulmonologist has been a great help to me.
I would see a pulmonary. I too have mild allergic asthma but in my own self discovery I realized my asthma is also triggered by my silent GERDS!! So I eliminated grains, sugar, dairy and limit alcohol. I also do intermittent fasting- eating between 12-8 pm. I’m on one inhaler-Arnuity and if I have a flare up I’ll use Breo for a while. They’re the same medicine except Breo has a second medicine for keeping your lungs open. Good luck and stay well!
Hi I have severe allergic asthma and I see a respiratory doctor( I’m from the U.K. ) which I think is the same as a pulmonologist
Update: Finally got in with a pulmonologist and it's a great fit. She said my PFT showed as of then that I had mild persistent allergic asthma and allergic rhinitis. Unfortunately she said that if I don't get my allergic rhinitis (sinus issues) under control that I'll never fully get me asthma under control.
