(Repeat Post)

Last Tuesday, I got a huge mailing from "The Nucala Gateway". It basically outlined my benefits, my "Patient ID" and everything I would expect from my doctor and not a manufacturer. But listed on the "Prescribing" page: "Route of Treatment: NUCALA for Self-Administration". WOW! "Surprise me!" I thought my doctor didn't know about the "Self-Injector"?! Guess they do/did or were given the option and they took it. That's great since they are far away from me. Even once a month would be a pain.

Since I haven't heard from my doctor I called them again Tuesday and got the person that I wanted to talk to. I told her of all the contact and info from the manufacturer and she got quiet. When I mentioned the "Self-Injector", she played as if they been doing that for years. I told her it was only released here in the States, June 5th. No answer. But she had my Nurse/Case Handler call me Wednesday morning with all "the" info and . . . I'm all set up to do it myself. YAY!!! But I voiced a bit of concern for off the top initial side-effects and training. She said they have yet to have anyone have any of the described initial side-effects that need to be watched for and that the first couple of injection will be done at an "infusion center", in their affiliate hospital up the street, just in case and to train me on doing it. "YES!!!"

So I'm getting the "Self-Injector" that will be delivered to my house and all the variables that could go wrong in getting this going are in the past. The paperwork and everything is at the end of where it all needs to go, i.e., the "Super Pharmacy" and the "Infusion Center" and out of the process chain . . . "I'm Golden!!" I only hope the rest of the journey is as good . . .

UPDATE 09/27/19:

Called my Dr today to see what the hold up was, since I hadn't heard from the "Infusion Center". Well supposedly, a hour before I called the Infusion Center called them and said that they are no longer doing Nucala Injections or Training. Great now another month delay. This all should/could have been done in May. So they shipped the paperwork to another center that is way on the other side of town. Great. BUT there is an Infusion Center almost walking distance from my house that is a hospital in their "operational chain". I called them to ask about that, but since it was too late on a Friday night . . . This whole thing has been a nightmare. By the time that they get this all sorted I could out grow this by being long since in the ground . . .

I’ll be getting my 3rd injection of Nucala in 10 days. I can’t believe how much better my health has improved. My husband just told me the difference is like night and day! I feel so much better and haven’t had to take steroids or antibiotics since I began treatment. I’m hoping to have continued success
