Social Anxiety

Hi guys, I’m new to this site. I’m 24 and have been struggling with social anxiety my whole life. Most intensely for about 8 years. I’ve made lots of progress but am nowhere near the end of my journey. Lately I’ve been waking up sick every day, usually physically vomiting at least once before work. Please message me if you want to talk about anxiety. Bradley.

Hello :-)

First when reading your post I hope you see the positive you wrote which was " How much progress you have made with your Social anxiety "

Well done , we never praise ourselves for what we have done but seem to focus on the negatives , but that is how anxiety can keep a hold on us

It must be so unpleasant been sick every day and some of it could be as you are expecting it to happen so it does as we can bring these things on without realising it

Have you spoken to anyone or had any support about how you are feeling and what you are going through ?

I hope you may either be able to confide in someone or if not your Doctor could help , some counselling maybe they could refer you for :-)

Know you are not alone that so many have had the same issue and as you have already said you have made progress , there is no quick fix but slowly you will make even more progress until your Social anxiety is not as big an issue

Some people always have a certain amount of Social anxiety and if you can accept that and tell yourself it is ok then that can also help :-)

Take Care x

Thanks lulu. Your support means a lot to me. Accepting that anxiety will always be a part of me is probably the hardest part. But when I fail to accept that, that is when it is honestly the worst. When I think about how hard I’ve worked and then I look at how hard I still suffer, it can be discouraging. But, we must understand that our issues will never disappear. We must learn not to get rid of our issues, but instead to accept them and cope with them.
