So I am currently on beta blockers and has been for the last year which has made my acid reflux worse over the last year so was put on lansoprazole to help with that but had to recently stop taking them as they was making my acid worse. Doctor recommended just taking anti acids when I needs them instead. But I don’t know why I’ve got this fear something bad is gonna happen if I take them on beta blockers even though I know it’s ok as the doctor said it was fine. I’ve taken an anti acid tonight as it’s always worse when I lay down now and can’t deal with the chest pains and acid coming up like last night, now I’m worrying about it.
My anxiety has massively improved over the last year and most of my physical symptoms have gone I rarely get any now where before I thought I was dying with them. I just seem to always have negative thoughts something bad is gonna happen if I do something different that my normal I guess.

Hi, your fears are never stupid. They are real and our fears can bother us a lot
I’m sorry your struggling with this. I’ve been same in the last over taking new meds...once I’ve taken them tho, I really feel pleased with myself...
Hope you can take the antacids if your dr has said they will be ok, I would be reassured...
I hope you get relief from the uncomfortable pain ...
Let us know how you get on ....
Once when I took a new med I mentioned to a memeber if the family and asked if I could call them if I had a reaction..it helped me to know that....I of course didn’t need to call them 🌺🌺
I’ve gone through a lot of what you are posting here. I’m currently dealing with acid reflux( never had the issue before). I blame myself for it because I feel like if I had better control over my anxiety I wouldn’t have acid reflux. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started and stopped new medications (including beta blockers) because I’ve worried about the side effects and interactions with other medicines. 😔 My biggest reminder is that the benefits most likely out way the negative side effects. My dr is great and so supportive, talk with your doctor about your concerns. For my own personal reassurance I always check webmd drug interactions to double check also. Good luck.
Thanks for your reply’s I was fine and nothing happened taking one I don’t know why I had a fear of taking them. Yeah I think I just need to not worry I did the same when taking paracetamol and drinking alcohol when I first started beta blockers worrying about side effects but was ok. It’s just learning to not worry about something happening as it most likely won’t.
Hello kellylorraine899
I wonder rather than you having to take an extra tablet for your indigestion issues if you could try a different Beta Blocker instead ?
I will do I have a prescription review in a couple of weeks so I’ll bring it up and see what they say. I know I shouldn’t of google ages ago about beta blockers and anti acids stop them working if you take them as I always worry about it. X
Never mind you went on Google we have all done it but remember to stay of in the future because as my Doctor says Google does not have all the facts about an individual's health and what will work for them !
My husband takes beta blockers not for anxiety but he has a funny heart beat so it regulates it for him but he did go on 2 and had to swap because one did not suite him , so it could be you could try another one and see if it causes less stomach issues as it seems a bit silly to take another tablet because the one you take is giving you issues , I could understand if it was the only one there was but there are several
See what they say when you talk to them but don't worry ( I know easier said than done at times ) but you will get this sorted x
Hi kellylorraine899,
I'm so glad to hear that your anxiety has improved recently.
But know, that your fears are not irrational. In the grand scheme of things, people are always worried about doing something that isn't what they're used to. If you don't try different things then you may not be exposed to something that could potentially help you even more!
