Hello & Welcome BHappiness :-)

I am sorry you are suffering with anxiety and at a time I can imagine you must feel or want to be enjoying your new arrival which congratulations !

I always suffered with anxiety but I do always remember when having my first child it got a lot worse , was it hormones , was it just one of those things I will never know but I also know there was no help really all those years ago so you felt really lonely and had no one to talk to so one positive is that all these years later you have people that do understand and somewhere you can come and talk and I hope that helps even if in a small way :-)

Not sure how old your child is but wondering if you could have post natal depression which is common and can go on a few years later as this can make you feel anxious

Sounds like you may not be from the UK but could be wrong and as I am I can only talk about our health care which with the NHS is free to go and see a Doctor , I hope where ever you are you either get free medical care or are covered with insurance and can get to speak with a Doctor , tell them how you feel and get the help and support you need because this does and can get better with the right support :-)

We are very quite on here at the moment , a very small Community compared to some but hopefully more will just take a minute to pop on and say hello and make you feel welcome :-)

Take Care x

Hello BHappiness

Having a baby is such an major upheaval in your live. You are not on your own. I'm sure there are plenty of other new Mum's that feel exactly the same. Perhaps finding a Mother and baby group would be very beneficial. Do you have any relatives nearby that have recently had a baby? Hopefully your Health Visitor should know of some groups locally. I'm not sure if you're in the UK but the National Childbirth trust maybe a good starting point.

Hi BHappiness

And welcome to the site. I am quite new myself and have found the people very caring and supportive which can really help :)

Sorry to hear you have started to suffer with anxiety. I myself have not got any children but have suffered with anxiety and panic attacks for a very very long time. Getting my panic attacks under control was the most difficult thing for me at the start. I didn’t socialise and I avoided a lot of situations for a good few years.

I still struggle daily but have Learnt to manage it to get by the best I can and with therapy mostly are self help things it has really helped me a lot.

I haven’t always known about the different types of therapy’s available - so thought would be good to share with you.

They may not work for everyone but I found CBT helps if you have access where you live.

Also mindfulness meditation on the anxiety section on the app Headspace has helped me massively. This especially helps for the worry and fear side of it as well as physical symptoms.

There are also lots of self help audio books on amazon that I buy and have helped to learn and teaches techniques to practice.

I really hope that you can find something that works for you. It can feel very scary but with the right support and to know all of the help available I hope you can manage the feelings and panic attacks x
