Anxiety after alcohol

Every time I have a drink and I get a little bit drunk it takes a bit for me to get drunk as I am constantly worrying about my anxiety. However when the alcohol starts to ware off my chest really hurts and I start to panic and my heart races really fast. Why is this I can't even enjoy my life at 18 😭

Hello

When we drink it makes us feel more relaxed so as it is wearing of again are bodies instantly go back into the fight mode and as we are so sensitive to sensations we feel this causing the symptoms you describe

Try not to focus on it to much or think you should be out keeping up with everyone else , you can have a good time with less alcohol if it suites you better , drink how much you feel comfortable with and don't look upon it as not having a good time if it is less than others drink , you make the evening as enjoyable as you want not the drink

Are you getting any help with your anxiety ?

It could be worth talking to your Doctor about how you feel , you are young and there is so much help out there if you ask so if you are struggling go & make an appointment :-)

Take Care x

Yeah I am on propanlol but I'm too scared to change it !!!! I don't want my life to revolve around medication because I already feel like I couldn't live without it. It's a battle!!!! Thank you so much I just didn't know why I was feeling that way x

I just would like to ask if you've talked to your mum or dad (or guardian if the case may be). Sometimes at 18 we can't explain our feeling or actions to the ones closest to us. X

Yeah my mam knows how I'm feeling she has agoraphobia herself so and anxiety is just so hard to understand for me x

All to often we 'learn' our behaviour from our parents. It's only now I realise the issues I have with social anxiety are mirrored to how my mam copes (if not) in group or social occasions).

I hope your mum is having help for her agrophobia. good luck and I hope what ever help you are offered you take. You are so young to live life afraid. With help and support you can come out a stronger and happier person. I really wish both myself and my mum had got help in early life. X
