RAISED GTT

NEW HERE... Raised GTT! No symptoms, just a random blood test for a medical. Level is 107. I sometimes drink alcohol at bedtime to help with sleep. Never ever drink during the day or early evening. Had no idea that my bedtime drink could put me at risk to liver damage. Have immediately abandoned the late night alcoholic treat. How long will it take to restore my GTT level to normal? How serious is my raised GTT level?

Thanks in advance for advise x

Hi 2things Can you clarify your blood test. GTT is a glucose tolerance test which would probably be used to identify diabetes. However GGT gamma-glutamyl transferase is used to identify certain changes in the kidney, liver and pancreas. As you talk about alcohol I have to assume GGT is what you are concerned with, and other markers such as Alkaline Phosphatase would be used by doctors to identify what is going on but you do not mention any other raised levels. I wonder if you can take your medical results to your own GP and ask for clarification. Different laboratories in different countries use different variables for the tests.

I know this does not answer any of your questions but I hope it will point you in the right direction.
