Hello To You All

My husband and I continue to eat low carb, about 4 years now. Any one else continuing?

Rather disappointing that low carb doesn't have a higher profile in many countries. Any idea why?

My husband has also been looking into the omega 3 omega 6 ratio in our foods and the absolute intake of omega 6. Anyone else been looking at this?

Hello.

I’m here, and I also continue to eat low carb ☺️

It’s been a bit slow on the LCHF forum for a while now…..

Good to see you are still here. Is your health how you would like it? Any ideas why low carb doesn't have a higher profile in the country?

Just begun to look at your posts on the Weight Loss support forum, I look forward to reading all the replies

I hope that you are healthy and at weight that is right for you. I wonder what your slip ups are?

The odd jacket potato, half a bread roll.

Weight is slowly creeping up.

I'm now 67, I run, am 5'4'' and 8 st 3llbs and lighter than I was at age 14. I consider this thanks to discovering LCHF. I had my mouth wide open moment when I watched the BBC documentary 'The Truth about Carbs' in which I learnt that a jacket potato converts to glucose in our bodies and is equivalent to 17 teaspoons of sugar. I wondered why I didn't know the until I was over 60 years old!? It was a gradual transition over for us and I have since labelled so called goodies as baddies and treats as punishments. Having said that we do have deviations from LCHF. I do still have some unwanted middle mass and hope that I will lose it one day. I think my body wants to keep it, we'll see. I so enjoy being slimmer that I just don't want to regain any weight. I still don't consider it automatic to stay slim so an ongoing journey. Presumably you would rather your weight didn't creep up so I hope you find a few adjustments that help.

It’s so not fair

We are all so different aren't we? My husband has never had a weight problem and finds it hard to empathise with anyone who does.

Still on a low carb tending towards keto. Since on keto no more pain or flares. I also take D3, K2, omega 3 , zinc and NAC . As well as nattokinase and Hawthorn Berry. I have multiple autoimmune disorders, and lots of sensitivities to food and chemicals. Apart from warfarin I take no other medication except for D3 which I purchase myself. So much better on this lifestyle and I believe it has given me a better and longer life than I would have otherwise had. Everyone is different and personal research is always recommended.

hello all

i am new to this forum and new to LCHF

can you sign post me to where i can get information to make a start - as i can see most of you on the site here have been doing it for some years.

i find the information aboutlLCHF on the internet a bit confusing and feel i would be better off benefitting from a bit of input from those like you with experience so i do not make any mistakes and get some input on the best way to make a start.

I think I have understood the main principles low carbs and high fat e.g cooking veg with olive oil and butter- eating eggs - greek yoghurt. But what veg and fruit to avoid that have high carbs? Is there anthing I am mis-understanding here?

i am in my mid sixties finding after four years on this forum my weight yo yo's between 10-11 stone in the overweight category - in and out of it and i would like to get rid of the belly fat that has persisted since an early surgical menapause aiming to be in the 81/2stone-91/2 stone weight which seems the best for my bone structure and will put me in a healthier bmi category.

Thanking you for any help

Hi houndsleap :)

There's lots of free resources and recipes on dietdoctor.com/

Specifically on your question about veg (and other ingredients) these visual guides are really useful dietdoctor.com/low-carb/vis...

Freshwell is another useful site, relatively new lowcarbfreshwell.com/ You'll see their summary Freshwell Guide, a conter-balance to the misguided Eatwell plate.

I hope you'll find something useful from this lot :)

Do plenty of reading and I'm sure you'll find meals and choices that you'll enjoy. This forum is very quiet these days, but if you post you will get replies.

i made the keto cheeseburger salad from the diet doctor and it was a taste revelation! have watched the Freshwell stuff online and downloaded the app. i'm going to be regularly checking in to this forum as i'm new to this way of life - recently diagnosed with T2D and high cholesterol, and have had underactive thyroid for years.......we'll learn together :)

We enjoy lots of the Dietdoctor recipes.

I spiralise courgettes and so like them fried in a little butter far better than pasta, so win win.

I also like dietdoctor.com/recipes/low-... so much more that ordinary rice. Another win win.
