LOL!

I remember going to a very nice restaurant a few months back where they specialised in locally-sourced produce, including some heritage-breed pork, which they served complete with crackling. I'm not a big fan of crackling, but that one was GOOD.

Remember it's very important not to restrict salt when eating low-carb. Most people experience a mild electrolyte imbalance during induction, and a bit of extra sodium and potassium (meat stock is an ideal source of both) will alleviate that. It tends to stabilize of its own accord, but on low-carb your body uses salt quite differently and there's no need to limit it.

Oh trust me I never have too little salt, I love it, which isn’t good when I’m in high blood pressure meds (family thing)

I’ve just realised that sugar is 4carbs per teaspoon..!!!! I have one in coffee and had about 8 brews yesterday, I think no sugar and black is the way forward

um ... if you're taking diuretics or CCBs, they'll play merry hell with the low-carb adaptation process. Possibly others too. I would ask your doctor if he/she can get you off them, at least temporarily.

But yeah, you'll have to go cold turkey on sugar I'm afraid! Personally, I used sweeteners for a while, but I found that I was able to reduce them so rapidly I ended up throwing most of the box away.

I’ll see how I go with the meds as I know doc won’t take me off them easily as my dad had heart issues

Cold turkey is the only way, sweeteners are yak..!!! Lol

Tell him what you're doing with your diet and he probably will (if he understands what they do). Apart from anything else, the LCHF diet will have a positive effect on your BP.

A bit of googling turned up some advice from an actual doctor:

I’ve even stopped smoking, he wouldn’t take me off them then, until they see my BP lowering they won’t consider it, fingers crossed LCHF and no smoking plus me doing Couch to 5k will change my whole body and he might change his mind

Well, keep an eye on yourself and if you experience any odd symptoms (in particular, those associated with low blood pressure) go back and make loud noises.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure you'll see some positive results from LCHF + regular running! Let us know how it goes.
