Are You Struggling?

There have been a few posts lately where people are getting a little discouraged and wondering whether LCHF is for them.

Well, first of all, the biochemistry is rock solid, and when applied properly the results are there for EVERYONE.

Basically, ALL diets have one thing in common - whether low carb or low-calorie high carb - they all work by KEEPING INSULIN LOW!

It's just that low carb works better than any other protocol at keeping that insulin low.

If it isn't working for you, you might think your metabolism is somehow different and that's why it isn't working for you.

Well, that mindset will get you nowhere and you have to do a little more research if you aren't convinced.

Henry Ford covered this neatly:

"Whether you think you can or you can't, either way, you are right"

Some problems seem to arise when people get bogged down in counting and ratios and timings. For me, the beauty of LCHF is you don't have to count anything.

OK, in the induction phase you might need to or want to, but, beyond that, it shouldn't be necessary. If we place the emphasis on knowing where the main carb sources are and building tasty meals without them, that would lift a lot of the anxiety. dietdoctor has great visual guides to higher and lower carbs in different food groups: using them, or similar tools, as a reference, we wouldn't go far wrong.

Or, as moreless said far more eloquently, "Eat your food, don't count it" healthunlocked.com/lchf-die...

I completely agree. One of the big mistakes of the Nutritionism brigade is telling people to measure and count stuff. It's pointless. If your body is working properly, there's no need to do this, and people who eat LCHF tend to have bodies that work properly.

The ONLY animals on the planet who are overweight are human's who hunt low fat prey - unless of course they are in the thrall of those humans - cats and dogs being fed biscuits for God's sake!

I've been thinking all this grain based pet food rather feeds the veterinary industry, doesn't it??

Too right. I have a rant about that.

Sometime people expect too much too soon and conclude LCHF may not suit them.

Yes, I think you’re right. I’m very grateful for all the knowledge and advice from people on this forum. You’ve all helped me enormously. Thank you!— For me, the massive benefit that keeps me going, regardless of weight loss, is the reduced hunger and loss of cravings. Bliss, finally 😊
