There have been quite a few posts by people new to this forum worried that a high fat diet will increase their risk of heart disease.
I suspect that those worried are still influenced by the current dietary guidelines and are concerned that flouting them will be to the detriment of their health. I also suspect that the primary reason they have come here is to lose weight and that LCHF is just another diet rather than a lifestyle promoting vigorous health. Therein lies the cognitive dissonance summed up perhaps by '...yes I know LCHF works for weight loss, but is it worth it if I'm going to suffer a heart attack?'
Take a look at Professor Tim Noake's dissertation, which I urge you to watch and subscribe to, as it will go a long way to allaying your worries.
For those of you unfamiliar with his work he is probably the biggest hitter in the low carb world who, despite running marathons most of his life but by rigorously adhering to the current guidelines wrecked his health and became T2 diabetic. He wrote a seminal book called The Lore of Running in which he enthusiastically endorsed high carbohydrate nutrition. He now admits and is ashamed of that stance and has done a complete volte-face.
The bottom line of this video is that it's not fat and cholesterol that is the problem, but high carbohydrate and sugar which leads to high triglycerides (fat in the blood) that is the elephant in the room which the powers that be refuse to acknowledge.
