Is it? I have used ground almonds, and I would not have mistaken that for a flour. I think there is a finer ground that is called flour. I think a home blender would take you from whole->chopped->ground->butter, skipping flour entirely.

I found myself near an H&B. They didn't have almond flour in stock, only ground almonds.

I'll try other health food shops too. Let me know when you find a keto Bakewell; at least we can have it with clotted cream I know someone who is from Bakewell. He says that Bakewell tarts are for the visitors, Bakewell puddings are for the locals. Maybe a Bakewell pudding is more keto friendly
I did not grow up in the UK. I did have an English recipe book of breads and cakes. The first time I had (or even heard of) a bakewell tart was when I made it from a recipe. The dish was unknown to me and my family. I have since been to Bakewell, and am pleased I got it pretty close. The people of Bakewell can eat as they choose, but I will not back away from the tart. It's nearly part of my DNA.
I also made a Gateau St Honore entirely from a recipe book in the same period. It was also spectacular, but maybe 13 year olds shouldn't make caramel without supervision: the burns took months to completely heal.
Note: my G St H was close to a croquembouche. Googling seems to get a much more orderly dessert than I made.

I think it’s finer ground when it’s called flour. I haven’t used it as I read negative opinions about the quantity of almonds that you would be digesting in that form. I did try coconut flour as an alternative but recipes had to be adjusted as it does soak up a lot of liquid.
Almond flour and ground almonds aren't the same thing. The flour is much finer and drier. The ground almonds are more coarse - although that varies from supplier to supplier. Some recipes call for almond flour and ground almonds aren't a good substitute. I usually stock both. Often, though, coconut flour can be substituted for almond flour in many recipes.
I got almond flour in Holland & Barrett on Thursday. There was an offer on - buy one, get one half price - so I got 1kg for £13.53. Pizza tomorrow night

Haha, the base is made using almond flour - it is an American product - and the recipe is in Diet Doctor. I'll report on how tasty or otherwise, it is tomorrow. Definitely not the same thing as ground almonds as I assumed initially
