I'm in N.ire,
attending Antrim Area Hospital.
Although Belfast City Hospital is listed as the ITP centre of excellence in the area. (not sure if this is a proposed or a current thing)
Communication is a problem within the Nhs system here, I have no joint care between GP and Haematology consultant, and would often receive appointment letters after my appointment.
I have taken a more proactive role in my own care and treatment, this irons out all the ripples in things.
Hope you get sorted,
Owen

hi we have attended the RVH Belfast with our little boy for the three years he was diagnosed. his platelet count sat at 3 from diagnoses increasing at times during treatments but dropping back just as quick, we where treated by Dr McCartney childrens hospital, we are still attending even though he has a splenectomy in Feb after we had exhausted all avenues regarding meds. all i can say is dont be afraid to question everything if your not sure.. good luck i hope you get the care you deserve. xx
Hi our 5 yr old son has had ITP for over two years now. We attend Our Lady's Hospital in Crumlin.. dr Nolan is the Specialist there.. I would recommend you to attend a specialist centre.
hello, I am from ROI and have ITP my local hospital in Drogheda has a very good hematology department and they have been doing great things for me. They are very caring and friendly they are also great at their job. I have had ITP from the age of 8months to 9 years of age. Then I went into remission until 3 weeks ago (im 19 now and its back). My platelet count went down to 1 and they were very quick in treating me and getting me better. ^_^ hope everything works out for you xx
