I've been on n plate for 3 years and it was working until 2 months ago when I got sick from corona virus very lightly but a week later the platelets dropped to 10 and they don't go up only with dexamethasone for a while and again 10 and below, does anyone have a similar experience?

thank you

I am so sorry this has happened to you. I just got over a mild Covid case and am also on NPlate. I will have to look out for this. I hope yours reverses soon.

I’m on Nplate, Started it in Feb 21. Since then I’ve had covid twice and 5 vaccines. Covid does reduce your platelets and the vaccine does but you should continue with it. I have always recovered a few weeks later and the consultant increased the dose to compensate. I’m now stabilising and I’m hoping that in the further future I can be med free again. It’s took a year to get a regular dose so that I can take the jab at home. Hopefully you will recover and continue with your Nplate.

thank you very much, I hope you are all well

I insist on nplate but it doesn't work at all while before the corona virus I had 100 with nplate two months later I have 10 with very large doses, how long did it work for you after the corona virus?

I possibly had Covid over the Christmas of 2019. I had all the symptoms that first came out after the news broke. I hadn’t felt 100% in 2020, had to shield as I have no spleen. It was in October 2020 that it was found my platelets were low. I’d been medication free for years until then. I was given a course of prednisolone steroids. They initially worked but the platelets didn’t hold, they went back down. I was given another course but that didn’t work. As I’m diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic my consultant recommended two types of medication. Nplate and eltrombopag, due to the times to avoid dairy products (I can’t trust myself to remember when and when not to have foods) I chose Nplate.

At first I had a small dose and depending on weekly blood counts, this determined the doses. Consultants have noticed through the vaccine program the amount of people getting a reduced platelet count, even in non ITP patients. I responded well and the low target is 50, I’ve only been below that twice in the 18months of taking Nplate, I’ve had highs of 200. I’m now on 1.12mg as I’m now injecting myself for the next four weeks. I was on a lower dose to start but it has been a fine balancing act. I’m well in myself and there are new medications coming out so keep positive. Something will work for you
