Help to interpret blood results

Hi guys,

I have chronic ITP (over 20 yrs) which is stable, baseline around 100. My dad has this condition too however, after investigation they say they cannot find anything to suggest mine is congenital.

With last couple of years I am extremely fatigued, weak and lacking energy for all the world I feel like I run off of a battery and when my energy runs out after little exertion I power out. I get the odd day here and there that I cant do anything I’m so lethargic.

After many FBC’s I notice a trend in:

below range RBC, just in range HCT and HB. B12 borderline at 270 after 1 x hydro jab 3 mths prior (neg to IF & PCA).

I do feel a lift after a B12 jab (only had two, 3 mths apart).

I had iron IV in Nov 20 ferritin was 19.

Can anyone help interpret my FBC results, I suppose I’m wondering if I have anemia of some kind and whether to push for tests/answers, I don’t know if these results warrant tests ie BMB etc thank you

Always best to discuss such things with your doctor/specialist or medical professional.

Absolutely just trying to get an understanding of it before I meet them, knowledge is power as they say 🙂

I would say you have very mild anaemia, I’m in a similar situation ( folate, B12 and Iron good ) but am pregnant and that’s the contributing factor, so am taking iron supplements alternate days. I would ask your doctor what’s the reason for the slightly low number.

Sorry I can’t give advice, I’m not in the medical profession, but I can sympathise as fatigue is probably my most irritating symptom. I also get the double whammy of reduced platelets and low iron and sometimes zombie walk through the day... most days it’s not too bad but if I have a very busy day one day, it’s usually followed by a lazy day just to recover... a particularly gruelling session at the gym can mean an afternoon nap whether I like it or not. I find iron infusions really help when the levels drop too far otherwise I’ve just learned to be extra patient and not be too hard on myself when I get tired or drowsy... now that I know it’s just a symptom of my condition. Just stay away from those energy drinks.... they may perk you up for a bit but they are poison!

Wishing you all the best on your medical journey!
