Anthony I apologise I am trying to find a way to contact you or the experts on the webinar panel quickly. I am due to have my second Covid vaccine tomorrow afternoon and at the last minute a friend of mine has warned me of long term potential of developing other autoimmune conditions following the vaccine. (As well as ITP I have CRPS). I thought I had calculated it would be better to take the vaccine to be protected from covid and I have listened to the excellent webinar your hosted recently. But I am at a loss once more.
My platelet count seems to have stabilised in the 60’s and I take 50mg/day Eltrombopag. I’ve been told Eltrombopag is NOT an immuno-suppressant and yet it has the effect of dampening down my OVERACTIVE IMMUNE SYSTEM. If I have an overactive immune system and DON’T take Eltrombopag, would that mean I’d have greater protection against Covid-19?
Does taking Eltrombopag put me at greater RISK from either contracting the virus (because it has lowered my immune response) or of developing other autoimmune diseases from the vaccine?
I will speak to the GP before I decide whether to take the jab tomorrow or not. But if you or anyone can offer me any advice at this 11th hour I’d be very grateful.
