As previously announced the ITP Support Association are delighted to confirm that the Annual Convention for Patients and the Medical Seminar for Health Professionals will be held on Saturday May 12th at the National Science Learning Centre, Heslington, York YO10 5DD.

Both events will be run in conjunction and some joint sessions will take place.

The event is a wonderful opportunity to meet some of the leading experts in ITP and learn about the very latest developments in treatments, research and patient care.

This full day programme includes discussion groups, a question forum and presentations by leading specialists on the following subjects:

•Dr Paula Bolton-Maggs – Interactive case studies

•Prof. James George –1. Adult ITP, 2. Drugs that cause/aggravate ITP

•Prof. John Hunter – Update on the ITP and food intolerance study

•Dr Angela Thomas – Childhood/adolescent ITP

•Dr Drew Provan – ITP Treatment and research

Tickets £20 (ticket price includes lunch and refreshments)

On-site accommodation is available and full details will be sent with tickets.

To reserve your place at this very popular event you can now down load a Booking Form from the ITP Support Association website at itpsupport.org.uk

Based on our experience of previous annual conventions we strongly advise that bookings are made early as places are limited and on site accommodation space may also be taken up quickly.

I would like to attend but am not sure if I will be well enough to travel. How late can I leave it before I book?

Nicky I will check this for you with ITP Support Association HQ and let you know in the next couple of days. I would have thought that if you book a ticket and cannot attend due to ill health a refund can be arranged by ITP Support Association HQ BUT I will check and let you know asap.

Also to further clarify... Tickets are £15 for ITP Support Association members and their partners. Tickets for non members are £20.

Accomodation on site at the National Science Learning Centre, Heslington, York is quite limited availability. Please do be aware that the later you book you may find that rooms on site are in short supply, so keep this in mind if you are looking to stay overnight either on the Friday or Saturday night, 11th or 12th May.

I've just booked this but will be late! What a good start. But the train doesn't get in until 9:39. It was a cheap ticket so I couldn't pass it up. Hoping that I'll get there before it really starts.

Glad that you have booked to come to the Convention b_t.

It is a full agenda with a really good list of guest speakers. The programme of events for the day was sent out with the March edition of The Platelet magazine . The event starts at 9.45am but the first guest presentation takes place at 10.45am so you should arrive in good time for that .

The day is a full one and we try to get as much into the programme as possible. It really does go quickly.

Look forward to seeing you there !!

Looking forward to the day Nicky. It is a really full agenda with plenty of interesting presentations. Having said that I personally think that the most important part of the day is meeting other people who are in the same ITP boat. Learning from the experiences of others & just having support is a great boost.
