any hope with a B M T ?? or some kind of mechanical device implanted in the marrow to produce platelets ?? are they working on a cure ?? if so who ?? all these drugs are harmful !!! so depressing !! was doing fine for a year on 50 mg. promacta then all of a sudden I am tanking back into the 20s .. bumped it up to 75mg. promacta and see what happens .. none of those ugly symptoms yet ?? waiting ?? jimmy

Hi Jimmy, sorry but BMT will not cure what is an immune disease. Promacta increases the production of platelets in the bone marrow and will keep working all the time you keep taking it. Have you had any other meds?

bruiser .. I have taken prednisone and danazol with little results .. the promacta ( 50mg ) had me stable at 45k for a year but last week I dipped to 21k so I bumped it up to 75mg 3 days ago and today it was 32 .. scared / but no symptoms .. last 14 years I was never over 90k and they never diagnosed me with I T P till last year when I was at 14k plus the doctor had me on 10mg. of terazosin ( huge dosage for the prostate ) terazosin causes I TP also they told me low blood platelets was normal for me ( that's insanity ) so years ago if I knew I could have been treated earlier . do I have a potential lawsuit ?? does the promacta fluctuate all of a sudden ?? trying to figure out the dip ?? thanks bruiser .. jimmy
