Hi l have been on Eltrombag 75mg. for seven months now and at last my 'count' is Notmal. How great is that. My doctor is reducing the dosage to 50mg over the next two weeks to see how l cope with the lower dosage. So l will keep you posted. There is always hope at the end of this long tunnel, so stick in there and dont give up all you people who suffer with ITP like me. Good luck to everyone l just had to share my news with you all.

Hi... I don't want to be the one who bursts your happy bubble... but here goes...

My first episode of ITP was treated by eltrombopag... got to good numbers... was weened off... and count eventually evened out and stayed up... drug free!

Four months later I had my second episode... I've now been on Eltrombopag for over a year... my count has been up in the normal range on a number of occasions.

Just be mindful that your count may drop (and maybe by drastic numbers) when you reduce your meds. It's normal... don't panic... you may face some frustration as your body adapts and you find a dose that keeps you at a safe count. I'm still going through that stage... but I am ever optomistic... lol...

I wish you best of luck and hopefully you'll have the sucess I had at my first episode...

If you want to ask any questions... drop me a line...

Hi there l dropped my dosage of eltrombopag to 25mg and yes my platlet count dropped like a stone!! Back upto 50 mg from this week and if it doesnt rise enough back to 75mg again - what a pain. I was so disappointed and tearful so l shall have to pick myself up and try again.

I understand your frustration. I had tears and tantrums...

Your body might just need a bit of time to adjust to each drop in medication.

Just a little hicup...

I recently started taking Eltrombopag and after 3 weeks my count rose to 487, having been 67 when taking Romiplostim. I was on 50 mg so was told to reduce to 25mg. Over the course of the next few weeks my count went down to 245, 231 and today it was 238. My haematologist says although my count is in the normal range she would prefer it to be lower, but there is no tablet less than 25mg. She suggested cutting a tablet in half which I have managed to do, so will start on 12.5mg tonight. I'll be having another blood test in four weeks so watch this space ....
